Welcome to the Sittingbourne Photographic Society website. This camera club was formed in March 1975 with the declared aim of fostering the study and practice of photography. During the ensuing years the society has grown in stature, and is now one of the strongest and most respected clubs in the area.

During its early years the society became well known for its creative approach for photography with the media of slides; however, over the last decade the style of members' photography has become very diverse and there has been a resurgence of print making.

The Society was affiliated to The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, (PAGB) through the Central Association of Photographic Societies (CAPS), and is now, since the break-up of CAPS, through the Kent County Photographic Alliance (KCPA).

The Society has represented at national level many times at each of the CAPS and KCPA competitions, reaching the top eight in the country a few times, as well as on numerous occasions winning competitions at county level. Individual members have had great success internationally, nationally and locally, gaining individual awards and acclaim in magazines and various competitions throughout the world.

Membership fluctuates with the times but with the resurgence of Digital Photography the membership has shown an increase over the past few years.
